Cervarix and Gardasil are not cancer-vaccines; Cervarix and Gardasil are virus-protectors.
HPV is a sexual disease and 100% preventable if you don’t have any sexual contact
-the only preventable cancer in the world. Cervical cancer is not even on the top-10
of worldwide cancers.
If you are not 100% happy with having the vaccine then you have the right to say
no right up to the second it is administered. Even if you have previously said you
would get the vaccine, or if your parents have given permission for you to have it.
You also DO NOT have to have anymore vaccines if you have had the first one, or two
(out of the recommended three)
There is NO TRUTH that you will get adverse side effects if you do not continue
the course.
You also don’t have to do what your friends are doing. In fact if you are the first
one to say no- will they be relieved you took the lead? Do they know the risks? Or
that its not a cancer vaccine?
You can always choose to have the vaccine at a later date if you wish, but you cannot
take the vaccine back out of your body once given.
It is your body- YOUR choice.
• Take a look at the information and links pages on this website, click on the links and read through and watch the information with your parents or guardians. Make sure you are happy with the benefits and the risks - whether you choose to have the vaccination or not.
• The risks are higher if you are in these categories– already sexually active (and possibly have already acquired HPV), are allergic to any components of the vaccine, had an allergic reaction after getting a previous dose of the vaccine, have a bleeding disorder, weakened immune system (autoimmune disorders), are pregnant, possibly pregnant or planning pregnancy or have a current illness with a fever.
• Avoid smoking, eat healthily, avoid toxins and also practise safe sex or limit sexual partners, especially whilst still young. (You cannot get HPV if you are not having sexual contact)
• If you do, or do not, get vaccinated - make sure you start to have regular smear tests when advised. (Currently in the UK from age 25) The vaccine only works with 2 strains of HPV.
• Pass on this website and information to your friends, family and anyone else you care about.
